About the program

 

Join our vibrant, faith-based agency providing innovative social care services to 14,000+ children, young people, individuals and families in the Northern Metropolitan Sydney and on the Central Coast.

 

We are seeking a Youth Drug & Alcohol Worker to join our Family and Youth Support Team based across Naremburn and Northern Beaches Family Centres. This position provides case management, counselling and mentoring to young people and their families with a focus on Drugs and Alcohol. As well as developing and delivering groupwork programs and outreach initiatives.

 

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as a positive model to young people and being able to engage with Young People aged 12-24 years old;
  • Providing one to one support via counselling, mentoring or case management
  • Facilitating high quality and innovative group work for young people;
  • Delivering outreach support services;
  • Working collaboratively with health services, schools and local community networks;
  • Meeting internal and external reporting requirements;
  • As well as other duties specified in the attached Position Description.

About you

 

To be considered for this role you will :

  • Have Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate area e.g., Social Work, Welfare, Psychology, Counselling or related discipline and or demonstrated relevant industry experience;
  • Demonstrate experience working and engaging with young people aged 12-24 years, as well as in delivering effective case management/counselling;
  • Have knowledge of drugs and alcohol and their effects;
  • Possess experience in conducting training and group work facilitation;
  • Have excellent communication and time management skills;
  • hold a valid working with children check clearance;
  • Able to work occasional evenings;
  • Have a valid NSW drivers’ licence and own car;
  • As well as other criteria specified in the attached Position Description.
