About the opportunity


Catholic Care Diocese of Broken Bay is seeking volunteers for our Supported Playgroup Program based at our Naremburn Family Centre.


This opportunity asks volunteers to commit to at least 2 school terms, longer term would be desirable. We are seeking a volunteer who is available Tuesdays and Thursdays (demand is for Thursday) from 9:30am to 12:30pm.


The volunteer will be helping our Supported Playgroup leader in delivering the Playgroup Program to vulnerable families. Our attendees include young children (0-5 years old) and their parents. Some responsibilities include:

  • Support the Supported Playgroup leader in delivering playgroup to vulnerable families
  • Helping to create a nurturing, safe and welcoming atmosphere for families
  • Assist with set up and pack up of playgroup
  • Assist in delivering activities during playgroup
  • Engage with young children 0-5years and their parents
  • Refer any challenges, disclosures from parents and children or concerns you have to the Supported Playgroup leader who will offer one on one support with families
  • Participate in the briefing and debriefing of the program
  • Offer any program ideas to the supported playgroup leader

About you


To be considered for this volunteer opportunity, you will:

  • Be someone who is nurturing, calm and able to engage in conversations with people;
  • Be a parent or carer or have experience supporting parents or carers;
  • Enjoy working as a team;
  • Demonstrate a positive communication style;
  • Have experience or a desire to engage with young children;
  • Have a Cleared Working With Children Check and be willing to undertake a National Criminal History Check.
