Domestic Violence Specialist Safety Support and Intake Triage Worker

CatholicCare Diocese of Broken Bay is a diverse and innovative social care provider delivering children's services, education and care, disability services, a range of family support programs and therapeutic out of home care to 20,000+ children, young people, individuals and families in Northern Metropolitan Sydney and on the NSW Central Coast.

 

We are seeking a Casual Domestic Violence Specialist Safety Support and Intake Triage Worker to join our Safe Homes Integrated Domestic Family Violence Strategy team based at Tuggerah, Central Coast. This opportunity is for a period of up to 7 weeks and is 4 days per week and commences in mid-January 2020.

 

This opportunity would be ideal for a 3rd or 4th year student who is close to finishing or has completed their Social Work Degree, with placement experience in Domestic Violence or with children and families.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide direct support, intake/triage, safety audits and planning, advocacy an education where required to women with or without children planning to leave or escape a violent relationship;
  • Work closely with other agencies that play a key role in responding to women experiencing domestic/family violence, including government and non-government agencies. Including referrals to relevant stakeholders; and
  • Applying evidence-based practice and drawing on theoretical frameworks appropriate for the needs of the clients within a trauma informed, time framed and client goal focused planning.

About you

 

To be considered for this role you will:

  • Have Tertiary qualifications (or be completing Tertiary qualifications) in an appropriate area e.g., social work, social science, welfare, psychology, health, education or related discipline;
  • Demonstrated understanding of domestic/family violence and some experience working in the field of domestic/family violence, including knowledge and familiarity with legal and other aspects of DV and child protection;
  • Have highly developed communication and time management skills.
