Join CatholicCare on an exciting new journey implementing Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC) services on the Central Coast and in Sydney's northern suburbs. 


Intensive Therapeutic Care replaces Out of Home Care and provides an alternative to long term residential care, focusing on recovery from trauma, the achievement of positive life outcomes and a broad range of placement options for children and young people. 


About the opportunity 


CatholicCare Diocese of Broken Bay is currently seeking a Case Manager. This Case Manager position has a focus to provide high quality and effective case management to promote the welfare of Aboriginal children and young people, their carers and families in line with the practice standards set by the Office of the Children's Guardian (OCG) and FACS Caseworker Policy.  


As a Case Manager, you will work with Aboriginal young people and their care teams to deliver case management across a range of therapeutic services. 


As a Case Manager you may work across any of our locations on the Central Coast and in Northern Sydney. Flexibility to work some additional hours, including at weekends, and to undertake on-call duties is required for this role. 


Responsibilities will include:  

  • Case planning and holistic assessment of young people to promote and support their safety, well-being and permanency needs; 
  • Working closely with young people and their families, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to develop pathways for the young people to transition through care and ultimately leave care; 
  • Coordination and monitoring of support and services for young people in residential services within the ITC framework; 
  • Timely completion of administration tasks and case notes;
  • As well as responsibilities set out in the attached Position Description. 

About you 


Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification of this position under s14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW). We can therefore confirm that this position is an Aboriginal Identified position and only Aboriginal candidates are eligible to apply. 


You may be required to provide confirmation that you are Aboriginal. This may include providing a cultural referee who can comment on your ability to develop and maintain relationships within Aboriginal communities. 


In addition, to be considered for this role you will: 

  • Hold a relevant Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma (working towards a Bachelor’s Degree). These qualifications are desirable, however experience as well as a willingness to participate in the above training will also be considered. Relevant areas of study could include Social Work, Social Welfare, Psychology, Nursing, Mental Health, developmental trauma, child protection, client intervention and case management; 
  • Be able to demonstrate case work experience working with children and young people who have experienced complex trauma; 
  • Have experience working with families who have been in contact with the child protection system; 
  • Have excellent communication skills and an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal people; 
  • Understand issues and challenges affecting Aboriginal people within the community and an ability to build relationships with local Aboriginal communities; 
  • Have an unrestricted driver’s licence; 
  • As well as other requirements in the attached Position Description.
