Family Caseworker

About the program

 

The focus of this position is to provide child focused casework within CatholicCare’s Integrated Services. The role has an opportunity to work across a range of CatholicCare’s wide variety of specialist casework teams to provide temporary or longer term relief to other caseworkers. This is an exciting opportunity to work with families experiencing child and family difficulties, Domestic Violence and Homelessness.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of families and young people to ensure the child’s and family’s needs are addressed
  • Work with families with children on a range of issues that include Domestic Violence, Mental Health and Alcohol and drug misuse in the family context and child safety.
  • Conduct regular and timely client reviews to assess family progress
  • Develop a knowledge and understanding of relevant referral agencies for client families to ensure effective networking and referral procedures.

Requirements 

  • Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate area e.g., Social Work, Social Science, Welfare, Psychology, or child development/Education related discipline and/or demonstrated relevant industry experience
  • Experience in supporting families and children in complex case work
  • Thorough knowledge of the potential impact of trauma and disadvantage on children
  • Counselling skills and experience
  • Working With Children Check and Criminal History Check
  • NSW Driver’s license and insured vehicle
